Kenveil 0.1.0

Windows 10 and 11 · 64-bit (x64) · installs for your user only

Download for Windows

The download is free. The tools need a license key: see pricing.

Windows SmartScreen warns you the first time you run it. Here is why, and what to do.

Verify the download

Check the file before you run it.

A SHA-256 checksum is a fingerprint of the file. If yours matches the one published here, you have exactly the installer we released, unchanged on the way to you.

PowerShell is part of Windows, so there is nothing else to install.

  1. Open PowerShell where the file is

In File Explorer, open the folder you saved the installer to, usually Downloads. Right-click an empty spot and choose Open in Terminal. On Windows 10, hold Shift while you right-click and choose Open PowerShell window here.

  2. Run this command

    PowerShell
    Get-FileHash .\Kenveil_0.1.0_x64-setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256

PowerShell prints the file’s checksum in the Hash column.

  3. Compare it with the published checksum

    Expected SHA-256
    not available yet

The two must match exactly; capital or small letters don’t matter. If they don’t match, don’t run the file. Delete it, download it again, and tell us in Discord if it still differs. If no checksum shows here, ask for it in Discord before you run the installer.

  4. Run the installer

Windows SmartScreen will warn you the first time

The installer isn’t code-signed yet, so Windows can’t name its publisher and shows “Windows protected your PC”. Your browser may also ask whether to keep the file. Once the checksum matches:

    1. Choose More info.
    2. Check that the app is Kenveil_0.1.0_x64-setup.exe.
    3. Choose Run anyway.

Setup installs Kenveil for your Windows user only and doesn’t ask for admin rights.

System requirements

What your PC needs.

Kenveil is an ordinary Windows app. It installs no drivers and no service, and stays inside your own Windows user account.

Windows
Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit (x64).
Installation
For your Windows user only, by default in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Kenveil. No admin rights, no drivers, no background service.
WebView2
Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, which shows Kenveil’s interface. If your PC doesn’t have it yet, the installer adds it; that step needs an internet connection.
Screen
Room for a window of at least 1100 × 720.
Internet
To sign in, activate your key and scan. Your license keeps working offline for up to 72 hours.
Optional
WireGuard for Windows for Relay, a Windows text-recognition language for Post, and Chrome, Edge or Brave 120 or later for the browser extension.

Removing Kenveil: uninstall it from Windows Settings → Apps. The uninstaller offers to remove your sign-in and saved data from this PC too. Your account, license and scan history stay with your Kenveil account, and the PC keeps its place on your license until you release it.

Optional companions

Two free Windows add-ons that some tools use. Everything else works without them.

  • For Relay

    WireGuard for Windows

Relay creates a WireGuard connection file on your PC. You import it into the official WireGuard app, which runs the tunnel.

Get WireGuard for Windows (opens in a new tab)
  • For Post

    A Windows text-recognition language

Post finds emails, phone numbers and handles in photos with Windows’ own text recognition, in the languages of your Windows profile. If Post says text recognition isn’t available, add a display language with text recognition in Settings → Time & language.

Browser extension

Kenveil for Chrome, Edge and Brave.

The extension puts a Canary button in email fields, adds accounts you are signed in to with one click, shows link warnings and your Watch badge. Until Kenveil is in the Chrome Web Store, you add it from the folder the installer ships.

  1. Open Connections

In the Kenveil app, open Connections, choose Connect a browser and pick Chrome, Edge or Brave.

  2. Load it unpacked

The app opens the browser’s extension page and shows you the extension folder. Turn on Developer mode (top right), choose Load unpacked and select that folder.

  3. Pair it with a code

Click the Kenveil icon in the browser toolbar and type the 8-character code the app shows. The code works once and expires after 10 minutes.

  4. You’re connected

The app confirms the browser is connected. You can disconnect it any time in Connections.

Works in Chrome, Edge and Brave, version 120 or later. There is no Firefox version.

Asks for storage, alarms and notifications. It works inside the pages you visit but connects only to the Kenveil server. Web pages never see your names or groups, and password fields are ignored. Only this website can ask whether it is installed and connected, and it never learns who is signed in.

After installing

Ready in three steps.

Sign in, activate your key and verify an account you own. Everything Kenveil maps starts from there.

  1. Sign in

Sign in, or create your account. An account on its own doesn’t include a license.

  2. Activate your key

Enter your license key. It activates on this PC, and the same key covers up to 3 PCs. No key yet? See pricing.

  3. Verify your first account

Prove an account is yours with a short code in its bio, or in one click with the extension. Scans start only from accounts you verify and your own email. Read the guides.

Release notes and updates

Kenveil doesn’t update itself yet. New versions are published on this page with their checksum: download the new installer and run it over your current version. The changelog lists what changed in each one.
